This week can be described as the week of the free agents. Almost all of the week’s high scorers weren’t on any team, which really highlights how anything can happen each and every Sunday. Now let’s take a look at who these high scorers were.
Out of all the playmakers that the Philadelphia Eagles have on defense, it was safety, Kurt Coleman, who had the biggest game against the Washington Redskins. Coleman was a one man wrecking crew with 5 solo tackles, 7 total tackles, 3 interceptions, and 3 passes defended, while playing 60 snaps. He was rewarded with a 1.6 PFF rating for the effort.
On the other side of the field, trying to match Coleman’s effort, was Washington Redskins safety, Oshiomogho Atogwe. Atogwe had an outstanding 6 solo tackles, 8 total tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 interception, and 1 pass defended against the Philadelphia Eagles. A big contributing factor to the level of production was that Atogwe was on the field for 78 snaps. He was given a negative 2.2 PFF rating, however, due to his atrocious run defense.
Buffalo Bills cornerback, Terrence McGee, returned to action, and made his presence known against the New York Giants, McGee posted a whopping 11 solo tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, and 2 passes defended. McGee had played exactly one snap prior to this contest, as he has been battling ailments all season.
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback, Nate Clements, did it all against the Indianapolis Colts, recording 6 solo tackles, 1 forced fumble, 3 passes defended, and even 1 blocked kick. Clements came into the matchup with a 0.2 PFF rating on 318 snaps.
Houston Texans defensive end, Tim Jamison, filled the stat sheet against Baltimore. Jamison recorded 2 solo tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. Despite the strong game, Jamison has a 1.0 PFF rating on only 91 snaps this season, and won’t provide much to any value at all this year.
Ahmad Brooks followed his fellow San Francisco 49ers linebackers by having a strong game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Brooks recorded 4 solo tackles, 5 total tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack in the 49ers win, while playing an eye-popping 83 snaps. He was rewarded for his big game with a solid 1.1 PFF rating.
