Fantasy: IDP Waiver Wire - Week 4

Kam ChancellorIf your IDP players are letting your team down and you’re in need of an upgrade, Week 4’s IDP Waiver Wire is here to help.

 DT Gerald McCoy – Bucs

After a strong rookie campaign in 2010, McCoy has gotten off to a slow start in 2011, with only 5 tackles and 1 QB hurry in weeks 1 & 2. But in week 3 against the Falcons he started to show signs of life, recording 5 QB hurries and 1 QB hit. Although he finished with 0 tackles, and 0 fantasy points, his +2.5 PFF grade for the game is promising. If he can continue to generate pressure on the QB he becomes a valuable fantasy commodity moving forwards.

DE Greg Hardy – Panthers

The ‘other’ DE in Carolina grabbed his second sack of the season (which was also a safety) against the Jaguars and continues to impress playing opposite Charles Johnson. Through the first two weeks of the season, Hardy received a +3.2 grade for his pass rushing on his way to notching up a sack, 3 QB hits and 8 hurries. With 6 tackles and a sack for a safety in week 3, Hardy is beginning to make a name for himself. With Johnson drawing attention on the opposite side of the line, Hardy could well keep up his impressive start for the remainder of the 2011 season.

LB E.J. Henderson – Vikings

In 2007 E.J. Henderson broke out as one of the elite fantasy LB’s with 118 tackles (94 solo), 4.5 sacks, 4 pass deflections and 3 forced fumbles. His ascent to one of the leading fantasy LB’s would be short lived, as his 2008, and 2009 seasons were both cut short by injury. He recovered well enough to play the whole of the 2010 season, and played well enough to receive a +18.9 grade, along with a trip to the Pro Bowl. Despite this, he flew somewhat under the radar in fantasy circles, with his tackle numbers dipping to below 100, and he ranked 28th among LB’s in 2010. Despite a slow start to the 2011 season (Henderson currently ranks 43rd among LB’s) the signs have been promising. Henderson has improved each week, going from -1.7 in week 1 to -0.3 in week 2, and +0.4 in week 3. His fantasy output has also seen a steady increase over that time, posting scores of 4.5, 7.5 and 8.5. Henderson has also played in 97.7% of the Vikings defensive snaps so far this season. Should you claim him you can feel confident that he’ll continue to provide solid scores every week with the potential for more.

CB Carlos Rogers – 49ers

Carlos Rogers move from Washington to San Francisco seems to have had a positive effect on him. After finishing the 2009 & 2010 seasons with pass coverage grades of 2.0 and -4.3 his 49ers career has gotten off to a superb start, as Rogers has an NFL leading pass coverage grade of +4.4 through weeks 1 & 2. Despite the former 9th overall draft picks renaissance, he’s still being targeted an average of 8 times a game, and came away with his first interception of the season in week 3’s contest with Cincinnati. If he continues to be targeted as often and keeps up his impressive early form, Rogers could prove to be a great addition.

S Kam Chancellor – Seahawks

Kam Chancellor was a sleeper for several IDP pundits at the start of the season and so far the 6’3”, 232lbs strong safety has delivered. Chancellor has played 100% of snaps for the Seahawks whilst grading +4.0 (+2.6 against the run). He is currently the =3rd scoring DB (and 2nd ranked safety) using the PFF IDP scoring system having recorded 24 total tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. Owned in only 5% of leagues on ESPN, he should be an immediate starter for your fantasy team.
