So I know what some of you are saying: it’s Wednesday, so why is the Monday Morning Cornerback coming out today? Well the answer to that is that I decided to have a full championship week recap, and it looks like I was not disappointed with one of the biggest difference makers playing last night. So with that, let’s get it going.
For a moment, it looked like Chris Harris was going to take the crown as championship week MVP with his 10 solo tackles, 11 total tackles, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass defended against the New York Jets. Going into the game, Harris had a 0.1 PFF rating, and that should probably be about where he ends up.
Continuing his torrid pace, Patrick Willis had a big game with 12 tackles, all solo, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble against the St. Louis Rams. He now has a 31.0 PFF rating going into the last week of the season.
It’s pretty rare when a defensive end winds up a top scoring IDP player, but that’s exactly what James Hall did. Hall racked up 5 solo tackles, 8 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and the rare safety. On the year he’s sporting a decent 11.2 PFF rating.
If there’s anything positive that the San Diego Chargers can take away from this week’s game, it has got to be the superb play of Eric Weddle. Weddle racked up a whopping 11 solo tackles, 16 total tackles, and 1 pass defended, all to pad his 13.7 PFF rating.
This week’s leading tackler was Akin Ayodele, who put up 11 solo tackles, and 17 total tackles. He has a 2.8 PFF rating this season, and has been a pretty solid source of production since moving into the starting lineup.
There was a little holiday cheer that came from those who managed to snag Chris Hope. Hope put up a solid 9 solo tackles and 10 total tackles, making him a valuable late-season pickup in most leagues. It will be interesting to see if he’s able to improve on his current negative 2.0 PFF rating.
And now, this year’s fantasy football IDP championship MVP is Antoine Winfield. Winfield had an unbelievable 8 solo tackles, 9 total tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and a touchdown to go along with 21.0 PFF rating. That line alone could have swayed the balance of any matchup, and I’m glad I didn’t have to face him in any of my championship games.
