Panthers pick up WR Kelvin Benjamin's fifth-year option

Carolina has decided to exercise the fifth-year year option on WR Kelvin Benjamin’s rookie contract, which will keep him with the Panthers through 2018 where his base salary will be $8.5 million.
Benjamin’s receiving grade of 80.4 ranked 21st in the NFL last season.
He was one of the NFL’s most dependable receivers last season dropping only two of 65 catchable passes, good for the seventh best rate in the league.
