Fantasy: IDP Stock Market - Week 4

Justin TuckIDP Stock Market looks at IDP players that are being overvalued and undervalued based on our advanced NFL statistics. If you’re looking for the sell-high or buy-low IDP candidates for your fantasy roster, this is the article for you.

Buy:

Cullen Jenkins – DT – Philadelphia Eagles

Although the Eagles season so far has not lived up to its “Dream Team” billing, Cullen Jenkins has been asserting himself as a DT1 in big-play scoring systems. He is currently our 4th highest graded DT (+6.3) and has been on the field for 133 snaps, 70% of Philadelphia defensive plays. Most impressively he has recorded 4 sacks, 2 hits and 5 hurries and has even blitzed on 6 more plays than Jason Babin through the first 3 games. Jenkins had recorded 7 sacks in 11 games last year before missing 5 games with a calf injury and looks to have re-found that level of form.

Pat Angerer– LB – Indianapolis Colts

With Gary Brackett suffering a shoulder injury it was Pat Angerer who was asked to step into the role and he delivered an 18 tackle (15 solo) performance against the Steelers on Monday Night Football. Angerer now has 37 total tackles (29 solo) in just three games and will remain playing as an every down linebacker as long as Brackett remains on the sidelines. In only his second season in the NFL, Angerer makes for an upside dynasty linebacker.

Johnathan Joseph – CB – Houston Texans

Two interceptions in two games show that Johnathan Joseph may be on the way to rediscovering the level of play that saw him chart 69 total tackles (67 solo) and 6 picks on the way to being a CB1 in 2008/9. Joseph is good, without being great (10/19 passes completed, -0.3 overall) which makes him a valuable fantasy asset as he’ll get playmaking opportunities covering the opposing team’s top receiver. Joseph has CB2 value moving forwards with potential to be a low end CB1.

Hold:

Justin Tuck – DE – New York Giants

It’s been a slow start to the season for Justin Tuck, who missed week one and left the game last week against the Eagles with a neck injury. A 1 point return also did not inspire fantasy owners last week, but the old fantasy adage, “always start your studs”, remains true. Tuck is an elite 4-3 blitzing end and plays in an aggressive defensive scheme opposite another pass-rushing daemon in Jason Pierre-Paul and he should be started this week against the Cardinals without question.

Sell:

Casey Matthews – LB – Philadelphia Eagles

It started to become apparent during the preseason that Casey Matthews was not settling into his role as the Eagles MLB, but his move to play SLB last week (Chaney moving inside) confirmed the fact the coaches feel the same. After grading -4.0 through the first two weeks Matthews still struggled playing the SAM role (-2.6) against the Giants too. His his play in coverage (-5.0) has been a particular worry so far and he has allowed 8/9 passes completed. Although he has made 14 solo tackles through three games, he only added 3 last week and will have reduced opportunities moving forwards.
