Fantasy: Scouting Future Stars

Football is upon us and everyone is getting prepared for their Fantasy Draft.  And while I should be preparing for this year’s fantasy draft I can’t help but look forward to what current College Football players can make an impact for your fantasy football team next year.  So expect to see an article every Monday scouting the potential top rookies of next year’s fantasy football season.  Below is my top ten accompanied with a blurb discussing their future fantasy prospects. One thing to keep in mind is that some of these prospects are underclassmen and are not guaranteed to enter next year’s draft.

1.  Mark Ingram– RB- Alabama

–          As in most cases with Fantasy Football running backs carry the most value and it doesn’t change with next year’s possible rookies.  Ingram is a big and powerful back that can carry the load for a NFL team.  With Ingram you have someone that could potential not share carries and when talking fantasy football that is a big deal.

2.  AJ Green– WR- Georgia

–          AJ Green is a very talented receiver who has been playing since his freshman year at Georgia.  Green has big play potential in the NFL but also can be dangerous in the short yardage passing game.  Green is likely to be selected in the top 10 meaning he will be playing for a team desperate for his playmaking ability so expect him to be a major contributor as a rookie.

3.  Julio Jones– WR- Alabama

–          Jones has a lot of similarities to Green and like Green could be select very high in the NFL draft.  Jones has played with a lot of pressure at Alabama so he shouldn’t be over whelmed by the pressures in the NFL.

4.  Evan Royster– RB- Penn State

–          Royster does everything good but nothing great.  He can easily be the starting running back for a few teams in the NFL right now.  He has worked very hard on his pass receiving skills so that will add fantasy value.

5.  Michael Floyd– WR- Notre Dame

–          Floyd is a big target that excels as a deep threat.  Floyd’s size makes him a good Redzone target.

6.  Jake Locker– QB- Washington

–          Locker is the favorite to be the top pick in next year’s draft and could be thrown to the wolves early in this career.  Locker has great athletic ability which should help him keep his head above water on a poor team.

7.  Terrence Toliver– WR- LSU

–          Toliver is another big wide out that has a ton of talent.  He has suffered from poor quarterback play at LSU but still has the ability to make a difference in the NFL.

8.  Jonathan Baldwin– WR- Pitt

–          This year’s wide out class has the potential to be one of the best ever and Baldwin has the skills to be one of the best.  He is a big and physical receiver that is a great Redzone target.

9.  Ryan Mallett– QB- Arkansas

–          Mallett has a big arm and loves to throw the ball down the field.  Some question his decision making ability but there is no doubting his big arm.

10.  Andrew Luck– QB- Stanford

–          It’s unclear whether Luck will enter the draft but if he does he has the accuracy to succeed in the NFL.  He has played with a sub-par supporting cast which could be the same story when he enters the NFL.
