Bears RB Howard wants to see more targets

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard expects a larger role in his offense’s passing game in 2017, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Howard led all running backs with 8 drops last season, also giving him the league’s worst drop rate on 37 catchable targets.
Overall, he wasn’t very effective as a receiver, even when he did hang onto the pass. He finished with just a 1.00 average yards per route run, which ranked 38th out of 43 qualifying running backs.
Of all the routes he ran, Howard was most effective in the screen game. 141 of his 298 total receiving yards came on 12 catches on screen plays, good for a 101.3 passer rating for his quarterbacks.
In 2017, he’ll face plenty of competition for snaps on passing downs with the return of Jeremy Langford and the addition of veteran Benny Cunningham and rookie Tarik Cohen.
