Here are the top takeaways from Friday night’s Steelers-Jaguars game, including the highest-graded players for each team.
Steelers
–It was a rough evening for B.W. Webb, allowing all three passes thrown his way to be completed and getting flagged for a couple of penalties as well.
–Ryan Shazier may have the first-round pedigree, but Sean Spence shone a little brighter in this one, thanks in part to Shazier missing a pair of tackles while Spence kept his mistakes to a minimum.
–With a thin secondary as it stands, Pittsburgh has to be happy with Kevin Fogg grading positively two weeks in a row now. He added a pass deflection this week to go with in interception in the Hall of Fame game. On five targets he’s allowed 28 yards, and only 4 yards after the catch.
Top 5 graded players:
David DeCastro (+3.4)
Howard Jones (+2.6)
B.J. Finney (+2.3)
James Harrison (+2.2)
Sean Spence (+1.7)
Jaguars
–New Jaguar Davon House was targeted three times despite just seven snaps in coverage, and while he surrendered a long touchdown, he got his hands on one of the other passes, nearly picking it off.
–The six pressures from Nordly Capi were 40% of the team’s total production as the young defensive end made a strong case that he doesn’t belong with the second string.
–Blake Bortles saw more play time than quite a few other starting quarterbacks did this week. He completed 11 of 15 passes, but when you factor three drops into the mix, his Accuracy Percentage of 93.3% demonstrated a strong performance from the sophomore.
Top 5 graded players:
Nordly Capi (+3.4)
Chris Smith (+2.7)
Tyler Shatley (+2.1)
Jeremiah George (+1.9)
Blake Bortles (+1.8)
