Fantasy: Offensive Depth Chart Review - Seattle Seahawks

Quarterback:

1 – Matt Hasselbeck

His 2010 season is best remembered for his amazing game against the Saints in the wild card round, but prior to that from Week 12 to Week 16 he has a PFF rating of -5.0 which is terrible. Despite a low completion percentage throwing deep (34%), he has a number of big plays for a total of 997 yards and five touchdowns.

2 – Charlie Whitehurst

He started his first two NFL games ever in 2010, in Week 9 against the Giants and Week 17 against the Rams which brought them into the playoffs. He didn’t look too impressive in either of these games, and over the season had just 5.1 yards per pass attempt. He especially struggled under pressure, where his yards per attempt went down to 3.0.

3 – JP Losman

Other than one snap in 2009, his last real time was in 2008 with the Bills. He started two games, saw significant time in two more, but had a PFF pass rating of -7.5 in those four games which is terrible.

Running Back:

1 – Marshawn Lynch

While Matt Hasselbeck is best remembered for his game against the Saints, Marshawn Lynch’s 2010 season is best remembered by his 67 yard run against them. His 2010 wasn’t overly impressive, with just 3.9 yards per carry on the season, and his game against the Saints being the only one he hit over 100 yards. He wasn’t a significant part of the pass game.

2 – Justin Forsett

In 2010 Forsett took a back seat to Lynch, although he still ran for 4.4 yards per carry while never getting more than 10 carries in a game once Lynch arrived. He was more a part of the pass game, where he was both a good pass blocker, and had 38 catches for 286 yards. He only had two touchdowns in 2010.

3 – Leon Washington

In 2010 he wasn’t really part of the running game as Lynch and Forsett took the carries. He had at most 29 yards in a single game. He did catch all ten balls thrown at him out of the backfield for 89 yards.

4 – Chris Henry

He last ran the ball in 2008 with the Titans where he had a carry for three yards.

Fullback:

1 – Michael Robinson

As the Seahawks fullback in 2010, he saw 13 carries for 78 yards, as well as nine catches for 40 yards.

2 – AJ Schable – Reserve/Future Contract

Wide Receiver:

1 – Mike Williams

As the 2010 season progressed, Mike Williams became the clear top target in Seattle. Including the playoffs he saw five games where he was targeted 13 or more times. What held him back from being an elite fantasy option is he only had five touchdowns. It’s also worrisome that he had six dropped passes on throws that were 10 yards away from the line of scrimmage or less.

2 – Ben Obomanu

In Week 10, Obomanu went from being a backup to a starting receiver in Seattle. Prior to being a starter he only saw eight targets, but in his ten other games he saw 57 targets. He caught 60% of balls thrown his way, which isn’t great, but he had 14 yards per catch. He needs to be more consistent to be a better fantasy option, because in four starts he caught 70% of his balls or more, in four games caught half, and in two it was one third of the balls or less.

3 – Deon Butler

He began the season as a starter but saw Obomanu take his starting job. Most receivers’ ether have a good catch rate, or high yards per catch, but Butler had nether-52.2% of passes thrown his way caught, and 10.7 yards per catch.

4 – Brandon Stokley

He played mostly in the slot for the Seahawks in 2010, and most of his snaps came late in the season. He was successful in catching 75% of balls thrown his way for 12 yards per catch which are solid numbers for a slot receiver. He had a few nice games in terms of yardage, but only saw two touchdowns on the year.

5 – Golden Tate

In his rookie year, his snaps varied greatly throughout the year. He only caught 54% of snaps thrown his way, but caused six defenders to miss tackles once he got the ball in his hands.

6 – Ruvell Martin

He came in late in the season, and saw some playing time from Week 14 on. He caught nine of ten passes thrown his way for 186 yards, which are great stats but a small sample size.

7 – Isaiah Stanback

He last played for the Patriots in 2009, where he saw 106 snaps and had three catches.

8 – Patrick Williams – Reserve/Futures Contract

9 – Dominique Edison – Reserve/Futures Contract

10 – Chris Carter – Reserve/Futures Contract

Tight End:

1 – John Carlson

In 2010 Carlson was the clear top receiver in Seattle but very much struggled to make much of an impact during the season. He only got 349 passing yards on 409 pass routes run, and just three touchdowns. He also only caught ten balls that were thrown beyond 10 yards.

2 – Cameron Morrah

He was the third tight end for Seattle in the 2010 season, and saw most of his action late in the season. He caught 13 passes for 181 yards, but also saw four dropped passes.

3 – Anthony McCoy

He saw 37 snaps in Weeks 9 and 10 of the 2010 season for Seattle, but was never thrown at.

4 – Dominique Byrd

He hasn’t registered a catch since 2007 with the St. Louis Rams.

5 – Jameson Konz

He didn’t play a snap after being drafted in the seventh round by Seattle in the 2010 draft.

6 – Caz Piurowski – Reserve/Future Contract

Kicker:

1 – Olindo Mare

He missed two field goals that were 30 yards or less which isn’t a good sign, but made 24 field goals on the year which puts him in the top half of kickers in field goals made.
