Fantasy football rankings are great. But they also struggle with nuance. Rankings present every player with an equal gap — Player 3 is exactly as far ahead of Player 4 as Player 4 is ahead of Player 5, and so on. Sometimes, that's correct! Sometimes, it's misleading. Sometimes, Players 3 and 4 are essentially equals, and Player 5 is a much larger step down.

Tiered rankings help to solve that. By grouping the players into fields of value instead of individual slots, we don't have to worry as much about individual rankings that don't matter as much — “Is Christian McCaffrey one spot above Saquon Barkley or one spot below? — but instead can identify where there is a bigger dropoff in value, say the dropoff after the top four running backs this season.

With that in mind, Director of PFF Fantasy Jeff Ratcliffe is in the midst of offering up a look at his rankings tiers for 2019. For two weeks in July, Jeff is presenting his tiers, one position at a time. Find them all here, and follow along for extra draft information that can help you win your league.
