Estimated Reading Time: 40 minutes

The high-scoring areas of the field are the most valuable areas of opportunity for our fantasy football assets. This report will keep track of each team’s top performers in that area of the field, as well as the players getting the most opportunities in the red zone. Adding even more fantasy value to this report, we’ll also include each team’s opponent and their effectiveness when defending in the red zone to identify our best matchups.

Note: Plays called back due to penalties or plays with pre-snap penalties will not be included within the player data.

  • The Panthers faced a decent amount of redz one plays relative to the rest of the league in Week 1 and ranked below average defending against both the run and pass in that area of the field.
  • James Conner and Trey Benson split the team’s red zone carries in Week 1, though Conner found the end zone thanks to being more involved in the passing game.
  • Marvin Harrison Jr. also found the endzone on one of his team-leading targets in the red zone.

  • The Vikings defense only faced five red-zone plays in Week 1; however, four of those five were passing plays, and each resulted in a successful play for the opposing offense.
  • The Falcons' skill position players found little success in the red zone in Week 1, though Drake London led the way with a 50% target rate and a favorable matchup in Week 2 should the offense get another shot.

Baltimore Ravens

  • Week 2 opponent: Cleveland Browns
  • Total redzone plays faced: 8 (T-14th)
  • Redzone successful pass plays allowed: 25.0% (14th)
  • Redzone successful run plays allowed: 75.0% (30th)

  • The Browns defense played a league-average number of snaps in the red zone in Week 1, facing an even split against the run and pass; however, it struggled against the run, allowing a 75% success rate and a rushing touchdown in that area of the field.
  • Derrick Henry, surprisingly, didn’t take any of the two possible running back carries in the red zone in Week 1, but he also found the end zone from further out than that twice in Week 1 and will likely see more chances going forward.
