The New York Giants and their injury-decimated offense were simply no match for the ferocious Dallas Cowboys defense, as this was an unfair fight from the opening kick.

Dallas took a 28-0 lead into the locker room at halftime with quarterback Dak Prescott putting the exclamation point on a stellar first half with a rushing touchdown in the two-minute drill.

Offensive spotlight: Giants running back Saquon Barkley had seven carries for one yard in the first half, with quarterback Tommy Devito completing four-of-nine passes for 24 yards. Darius Slayton was the lone pass-catcher with multiple receptions and over 10 receiving yards in the first half. The Giants averaged 1.2 yards per play in the first half.

The entire Cowboys passing attack was feasting in the first half, with quarterback Dak Prescott completing 18-of-24 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns, adding 17 rushing yards with a touchdown to close out the half. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb scored in the first half on a 14-yard carry, and hauled in six receptions for 98 yards, with Brandin Cooks also racking up 104 yards on seven receptions with a touchdown. The Cowboys averaged 8.8 yards per play in the first half.

Defensive spotlight: Giants cornerback Cordale Flott had an interception and returned it for 21 yards, one of the few plays for Dallas in the first half that wasn’t successful if not explosive.

Cowboys second-year edge defender Sam Williams continues to make splash plays on a weekly basis, tallying a sack and a tackle for loss in the first half. Cornerback Daron Bland ripped the ball out of Giants rookie wideout Jalin Hyatt’s hands in the third quarter for his fifth interception of the season, the most among cornerbacks.

Rookie spotlight: Giants rookie cornerback Deonte Banks was charged with allowing 57 receiving yards on four receptions in the first half on initial review, though he did have a pass breakup as well. Rookie wideout Jalin Hyatt is not a focal point of this offense when the Giants aren’t capable of throwing the ball beyond the line of scrimmage, which was the case again today.

Cowboys rookie tight end Luke Schoonmaker was charged with a drop on his lone first-half target.
