  • According to our own Nathan Janke, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen ran 20 routes from the slot during Saturday’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. Fellow teammates Laquon Treadwell and Stefon Diggs were hardly utilized in the slot, only recording two and zero routes there, respectively.
  • Thielen has run 31 of his 44 routes from the slot so far this preseason, leaving him with a slot route percentage (the percentage of routes run while lined up as a slot receiver) of 70.5. He has been targeted three times so far from the slot, notching three receptions for 33 yards.
  • Thielen had a breakout year in 2016, grading as the 19th-best wide receiver in the NFL among 115 qualifying receivers, with an 83.1. His 2.48 yards per route run from the slot was second-best in the NFC, trailing only Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
