NFL Week 10 Game Recap: San Francisco 49ers 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 3

The Jacksonville Jaguars welcomed the San Francisco 49ers after both teams enjoyed a bye week, and the Jaguars also welcomed San Francisco into their end zone all game long. The 49ers averaged eight yards per play and comfortably moved the ball down the field with explosives and by staying ahead of the chains and sustaining drives.  

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was under siege all day long. He threw one interception off the hands of running back Tank Bigsby on a screen to his left and another was a bit telegraphed into the hands of linebacker Fred Warner downfield. 

Offensive spotlight: Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk had six receptions for 104 yards, the only Jaguars player with at least 30 receiving yards or 50 total yards of scrimmage on the day. Kirk fumbled the ball at the 49ers' six-yard line when down 20-3, which effectively ended the game once and for all. The Jaguars had no answers for this 49ers defense, getting killed up front at the line of scrimmage and rarely creating any separation downfield. 

49ers tight end George Kittle got behind Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd and quarterback Brock Purdy somehow reset his base and reloaded his arm to deliver a well-placed ball over Lloyd’s outstretched arms down the right sideline, with Kittle waltzing into the end zone with no defender in sight. Kittle finished the game with three receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. Running back Christian McCaffrey had over 100 yards from scrimmage, with 95 yards on the ground and six receptions for 47 yards, both featuring several missed tackles forced, but his remarkable touchdown streak ended at 17 games. 

Defensive spotlight: 49ers edge defenders and former Ohio State teammates in Nick Bosa and Chase Young had a reunion at the quarterback in the first half, teaming up for the first of five sacks on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Interior defender Javon Hargrave tacked on 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss. Safety Talanoa Hufanga had a quick reaction to the ball careening off of Tank Bigsby’s hands on a short pass with a little too much zip from Lawrence, and linebacker Fred Warner displayed his elite downfield coverage abilities with the second interception. 

Jaguars linebacker Foye Oluokun was effectively the only Jaguars defender to show up, with two sacks and three tackles for loss as he continues to make splash plays all over the field on a weekly basis. Fellow linebacker Devin Lloyd had a game-high seven solo tackles but was picked on a bit as a coverage player. 

Rookie spotlight: 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody went 2/2 on field goals and 4/4 on extra points, not an easy feat with some windy and wet conditions in Jacksonville. 

Jaguars rookie running back Tank Bigsby worked behind veteran D’Ernest Johnson and finished with five yards on three carries.
