Tennessee Titans place WR A.J. Brown on injured reserve

Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown (11) tries to get past Indianapolis Colts defenders during the game at Lucas Oil Stadium Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021 in Indianapolis, Ind. Nas Titans Colts 031

The Tennessee Titans will be without another one of their top offensive playmakers for at least the next three games, as wide receiver A.J. Brown was placed on injured reserve (IR) Saturday with a chest injury. Titans running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver Julio Jones were already on injured reserve.

While it has yet to be confirmed, PFF injury analyst Mario Pilato tweeted that Brown might have suffered “suffered internal damage or severe cartilage damage.” If it's internal damage, Pilato believes Brown would miss more than three weeks.

The Titans elevated wide receiver Cody Hollister from the practice squad to replace Brown for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. With Brown, Henry, Jones and wide receiver Marcus Johnson on IR and running back Jeremy McNichols ruled out of Week 12 with a concussion, Tennessee is left with D’Onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard at running back in addition to Hollister, Chester Rogers, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and rookie Dez Fitzpatrick at wide receiver. Tight ends Anthony Firkser, Tommy Hudson and MyCole Pruitt are healthy while Geoff Swaim is questionable with a concussion.

Titans backup quarterback Logan Woodside is on the COVID-19 reserve list, so Tennessee elevated QB Kevin Hogan from its practice squad to back up starter Ryan Tannehill against the New England Patriots.

Without any of his top weapons and against an ascending Patriots defense, Tannehill is PFF’s 24th-ranked fantasy quarterback this week.

Foreman is our 32nd-ranked fantasy running back while Hilliard is 52nd. Westbrook-Ikhine is our top-ranked Titans wide receiver at No. 58. No other Tennessee receivers are ranked in the top 100.

The Patriots are PFF’s top-ranked fantasy defense and special teams this week.

The injuries to Brown as well as Jones and Johnson mean Tannehill shouldn’t be in fantasy starting lineups for the next few weeks. Westbrook-Ikhine becomes the top receiving option in Tennessee and, at the very least, should be a waiver wire pickup. Golden Tate was recently added to the Titans, and could also be a sneaky add as a wild card at the bottom of your fantasy bench, though he was not elevated for Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
