New York Giants sign Landon Collins to practice squad
- A second-round pick of the Giants in 2015, Collins spent the first four years of his career with New York before landing a big-money free-agent deal from Washington in 2019.
- Collins started 59 games during his time with Giants and made three Pro Bowls, earning an 82.0-plus PFF grade twice. He never found that same success in Washington and was released this past offseason in a cap-savings move.
- There has been chatter that Collins could take on a hybrid linebacker-type role this time around, which was something he was reluctant to do in Washington.
New England Patriots place QB Brian Hoyer on IR
- Hoyer started Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers but suffered a concussion early in the first quarter. He’ll now miss at least the next four games.
- Rookie Bailey Zappe played the rest of the game and finished 10-of-15 for 99 yards, one TD and no interceptions. He earned a 51.0 PFF grade.
- Mac Jones has been recovering from a high ankle sprain and has been limited in practice the last two days after not practicing at all last week.
- New England signed Garrett Gilbert to the practice squad earlier this week and he would be the backup to Zappe if Jones can’t go.
- The Patriots travel to Detroit to take on the Lions this Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens sign WR Andy Isabella to practice squad
- The former second-round pick out of UMass was waived by the Cardinals on Tuesday.
- Isabella recorded 33 receptions, 447 yards and three touchdowns over three-plus seasons in Arizona.
- His 57.5 receiving grade since entering the league ranks 19th out of the 23 wide receivers drafted that year.
