Denver Broncos RB Javonte Williams tears ACL

  • Williams went down on the Broncos' first play of the second half and will now miss the rest of the 2022 NFL season.
  • The former second-round pick finishes the year with 47 carries and 203 yards and was the team’s second-leading receiver with 16 receptions. He earned a 64.5 PFF grade in the four games.
  • Denver pivoted to Mike Boone after the injury. Melvin Gordon was splitting time with Williams over the first three games of the season, but he fumbled in the second quarter, which was returned 68 yards for a touchdown. It was Gordon’s fourth fumble of the season.

Atlanta Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson placed on IR due to knee injury

  • Patterson underwent a minor procedure on Monday morning and will miss at least the next four games.
  • Patterson was the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week, but missed two days of practice coming into Sunday’s game and was a true game-time decision. He ended up playing a season-low nine carries.
  • The Falcons will rely on fifth-round rookie Tyler Allgeier, who recorded 10 carries and 84 yards on Sunday, and former undrafted free agent Caleb Huntley, who finished with 10 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. Veteran Damien Williams will be eligible to return from injured reserve next week.

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor dealing with ankle and toe injuries

  • Taylor finished with 20 carries for 42 yards before leaving Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury. He came into the game with a toe injury, which was described as a “mild case of turf toe.”
  • Tests on Monday came back negative, per ESPN, but the Colts have a short week coming up with a game on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos.
  • Taylor has been off to a slow start this season, being held under 100 yards in each of the last three games. His PFF grade for the season is 60.3.
  • If Taylor can’t go on Thursday night, the Colts have Nyheim Hines and Deon Jackson on the 53-man roster while Phillip Lindsay and D’vonte Price are on the practice squad.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks to miss time due to turf toe

  • The first-round rookie went down in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game and was carted to the locker room. He was spotted on crutches and in a walking boot when he left the locker room.
  • The injury does not require surgery, but Burks will be sidelined for a few weeks.
  • Burks recorded two catches for 14 yards on Sunday and has 10 catches for 129 yards on the season. He’s earned a 65,0 PFF grade.
  • Robert Woods, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Kyle Philips and Cody Hollister are the rest of the receivers on the active roster while Josh Gordon is on the practice squad.

Miami Dolphins to start Teddy Bridgewater this week

  • Tua Tagovailoa, who was taken off on a stretcher Thursday night, remains in concussion protocol. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Tagovailoa is in the facility and has been in great spirits. They won’t speculate on how long he’ll be out. “We’re just focused on making sure he’s at optimal health and then crossing that bridge,” McDaniel said.
  • Bridgewater replaced Tagovailoa on Thursday night and threw for 193 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He earned a 54.2 PFF grade.
  • Seventh-round rookie Skylar Thompson will serve as the backup. Miami also added Reid Sinnett to its practice squad on Monday.

Indianapolis Colts LB Shaquille Leonard out for Thursday night due to concussion

  • Leonard was making his season debut on Sunday after missing the first three weeks with a back injury. He suffered a concussion in the second quarter when he collided with a teammate that left him bloodied.
  • With a game on Thursday night, the Colts have already ruled him out.
  • Concussions have been a big talking point around the NFL over the last week. The league and the players association are expected to modify the concussion protocol amid the controversy around Tagovailoa's injury from last week.

Minnesota Vikings rookie S Lewis Cine suffers lower leg fracture

  • Cine suffered the injury on a special teams play in the first quarter of Sunday’s game in London. The injury was gruesome, and he had to be carted off the field with an aircast around his leg. The broadcast did not show a replay due to the severity.
  • Cine stayed in London and has undergone the first of two procedures. The second procedure will take place Tuesday and he will remain in London until the “appropriate time,” according to the team.
  • The Vikings selected the George product with the final pick of the first round of this past year’s draft. He only played two total snaps on defense in two games.

Denver Broncos DE Randy Gregory to undergo knee surgery

  • Gregory is expected to miss 2-6 weeks depending on how his knee responds to surgery.
  • A big free agent addition this offseason, Gregory has nine tackles, two sacks, 11 hurries, six quarterback hits and two forced fumbles in four games. His 87.4 PFF grade is top-10 among all qualifying edge rushers.
  • Rookie Nik Bonitto and second-year player Baron Browning are likely to be called on to step up in Gregory’s absence.

New England Patriots sign veteran LB Jamie Collins

  • This will be Collins' fourth stint with New England, where he began his career as a second-round pick (2013-2016), returned in 2019 and then again in 2021.
  • He will start off on the practice squad, but the expectation is he’ll quickly get elevated. Practice squad linebacker Harvey Langi was released.
  • Collins earned an 81.0 overall defensive grade last season with New England after getting released by Detroit. Fittingly, the Patriots head to Detroit this week to face the Lions.

Buffalo Bills WR Jamison Crowder suffers broken ankle

  • The injury happened in the third quarter of Sunday’s game on a punt return. Crowder will be placed on injured reserve, and there’s no timetable for a return.
  • Signed to a one-year deal this offseason, Crowder has served as the team’s primary punt returner and has six receptions for 60 yards in 93 offensive snaps.
  • Buffalo also lost receiver Isaiah McKenzie, who suffered a concussion during the game and is now in concussion protocol. McKenzie has scored a touchdown in three out of four games this season and has earned a 68.3 PFF grade.
