Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Travis Etienne played just three snaps in Monday night’s preseason game versus the New Orleans Saints before leaving with a foot injury that will potentially end his season.

Etienne is reportedly dealing with a Lisfranc injury that “knocks him out for the next several months and potentially the season” according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Jaguars didn’t have a real need at running back after the success of undrafted rookie James Robinson last season and the signing of free agent Carlos Hyde this offseason, but they still chose Etienne 25th overall in April’s draft. New head coach Urban Meyer has said Etienne could end up getting some snaps at wide receiver while Robinson and Hyde are lined up at running back.

FANTASY FOOTBALL IMPACT

James Robinson RB1 szn: Etienne’s injury is obviously stock up for 2020’s best waiver wire pick-up, James Robinson. He set a record for most scrimmage yards (1,414) by an undrafted player in his first season. With volume on his side early in the year (and a juicy Week 1 matchup against an awful Houston Texans defense), have confidence taking Robinson as a back-end RB2 in fantasy. Flier on Carlos Hyde: Hyde was going undrafted in most formats, but the injury should change that. He has been involved enough in the first two preseason games that he will have a handful of touches every week with Etienne sidelined. He’s likely to fall into a bell-cow role if Robinson were also to get hurt. Click here for PFF's fantasy projections…
