NFL Week 6: Fantasy IDP utilization report

  • A good week for some key rookies: The rookie IDPs are starting to gain some steam now that they have a few games of NFL experience under their belts leading to a new utilization category: Rookie Watch!
  • One person’s trash may be another’s treasure: Marcus Davenport’s IDP managers are likely tossing him aside after a very slow fantasy start to the year but coming off his best pass-rush game of the year, he could he be a buy-low with a chance to turn things around going forward.
  • The linebacker landscape gets muddied some more: With a couple of teams deploying situation-specific linebackers and others being benched or limited due to poor play, the full-time linebackers become more valuable in 2022.

WEEK 6 TAKEAWAYS

Make sure to check out last week’s waiver targets. Some of the key players stood out as potential adds after Week 5 for leagues of all sizes:

Waiver Wire
  • LB – Germaine Pratt, CIN – Logan Wilson is likely to be sidelined for at least Week 7, which leaves room for a snap increase for Pratt. He should be a solid fill-in for teams dealing with injuries and bye weeks.
  • LB – Akeem Davis-Gaither, CIN – In the same way that Pratt should see a snap increase, Davis-Gaither can have the same effect in deeper leagues.
  • LB – Quincy Williams, NYJ – Williams returned this week and took back his secondary linebacker spot. He should continue to be a solid linebacker option going forward.
  • EDGE – Marcus Davenport, NO – Shallow-to-medium leagues are likely dropping Davenport after another quiet game in the box score. What was missed is that Davenport had his best performance of the season, including a 90.9 pass-rush grade in Week 6. If IDP managers need help at the position, Davenport could be an option to turn things around for the remainder of the fantasy regular season.
  • EDGE – Arnold Ebiketie, ATL – The second-round rookie played his highest snap share of the season (82%) and posted the highest pass-rush grade of his career (76.3). There are some ineffective starters that can be dropped at this point, and Ebiketie could be an option to replace them for teams looking to shake things up.
  • DI – Ed Oliver, BUF – Oliver played his full compliment of snaps again this week after missing time and being eased in the previous week. Oliver is one of the better interior pass-rushing options who is likely available in plenty of 2022 IDP leagues.
  • S – Keanu Neal, TB – Mike Edwards missed this game, as did Logan Ryan, which opened up a big opportunity for Neal in an IDP-friendly role. If Ryan and Edwards continue to miss time, then Neal could be a strong IDP option.
  • S – Justin Simmons, DEN – After missing multiple weeks, Simmons returned to his every-down safety role. One of the more reliable IDP safeties in recent years could be on waiver wires in plenty of leagues.

  • DROPPABLE: If any IDP managers are still holding onto Yetur Gross-Matos in redraft leagues, then it’s time to let go. The former second-round pick has been completely ineffective, not posting a pass-rush grade above 61.9 all year long, and has failed to secure a sack as a result. It’s more than likely that there are better pass-rushers on the waiver wire.

  • DROPPABLE: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah follows up his downgrade from last week as the linebacker to getting jumped by Sione Takitaki in snaps this week. Owusu-Koramoah will also have Deion Jones to contend with for snaps soon and can be dropped in redraft leagues where there are better options on the waiver wire.
