Dallas Cowboys offseason wish list for fantasy

The Dallas Cowboys went 9-7 in the 2017 season and missed the playoffs yet again. Missing Ezekiel Elliott for six games didn’t help, but it did bring to light some very real problems with the passing attack (or lack thereof). The Dallas air game finished the year ranked 26th in both total passing and yards per reception. Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams aren’t scaring opposing defenses.

The Cowboys won’t be able to make big splashes in free agency as they only have about $20 million available (22nd in NFL). The offense is in need of pass-catching playmakers but will have to make some savvy lower-level additions and draft well in order to address their warts.

Three additions we want to see for fantasy

Albert Wilson, WR: Wilson quietly had his best season as a pro in 2017, sporting a stellar WR rating (passer rating when targeted) of 123.7 on 56 targets. He won’t break the bank and it would be interesting to see what he could do with an increased target share.

John Brown, WR: There’s risk involved here due to Brown’s spotty health history, but he fits the budget constraints. A player that can move around in the formation and add a speed element for opposing safeties to respect could open things up for Dak Prescott.

Early-round playmaker at TE: This is the fifth presidential term in the United States since Jason Witten established himself as the Cowboys’ safety valve. An athletic, seam-busting heir to the Witten throne is exactly what this team needs. The Cowboys essentially had a non-existent deep passing attack to the tight ends in 2017, targeting the position more than 20 yards downfield just seven times all season.
