Four weeks into the season, it’s time to take a look at who is in contention for the NFL’s top awards, and who would be PFF’s picks for the All-Pro Team. The list and awards were decided upon by a panel of PFF’s senior analysts based on PFF grading and advanced metrics through the first four weeks of the season.

SPECIAL TEAMS

MVP of the Quarter: QB Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

The Rams signal caller leads all quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts in PFF passing grade, coming in at 90.8. His 8.3% big-time throw rate is also the best among such quarterbacks, and is more than a percentage point better than the next best quarterback.

Offensive Player of the Quarter: WR Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams

Given that he’s on a record-setting pace, it should come as no surprise that Nacua is the current PFF pick to win Offensive Player of the Year. His 93.5 PFF receiving grade is over three points better than the next wide receiver, and his 4.19 yards per route run is also the best mark in the league.

Defensive Player of the Quarter: EDGE Micah Parsons, Green Bay Packers

You could make a case for at least four edge defenders alone to be in the running for this award. However, it is Parsons who leads all players at the position with a 93.4 PFF pass-rush grade. His 25 total pressures are tied with Will Anderson Jr. for the most in the NFL, while his 28.0% pass-rush win rate is tied for fourth.

Offensive Rookie of the Quarter: WR Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Beating fellow NFC South wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan of the Carolina Panthers to this spot four weeks into the season, Egbuka leads all rookie wide receivers with at least 50 routes run with an average of 1.96 yards per route run. If he can tidy up his drops — having dropped 14.3% of his catchable targets — then this could become a special rookie season.

Defensive Rookie of the Quarter: LB Carson Schwesinger, Cleveland Browns

New York Giants edge defender Abdul Carter and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell are also in the running here, but it is Schwesinger who takes the spot at this point in the year. One of just five linebackers in the NFL with a PFF grade above 75.0 both against the run and in coverage, his 84.1 overall PFF grade is the best among all rookie linebackers.

Protector of the Quarter: T Garett Bolles, Denver Broncos

The only offensive lineman in the NFL with a PFF pass-blocking grade above 90.0 — coming in at 92.1 through four weeks — Bolles has been tremendous at protecting quarterback Bo Nix’s blind side. On the field for 164 pass-blocking snaps, he has allowed just three total pressures on the season so far.
