Tony Pollard was playing through an injury late in the season, allowing Tyjae Spears to play at least 50% of offensive snaps during the fantasy playoffs. He caught six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in Week 15, ran 10 times for 27 yards and two touchdowns in Week 16, and ran 20 times for 95 yards in Week 17. He scored the fifth-most fantasy points during that time.

Spears avoided 1.5 tackles on receptions per game last season, which was the best among running backs. His 0.55 avoided tackles per reception and 0.096 avoided tackles per route in the previous two seasons are also the best among running backs.

For the most part, Spears' role decreased, going from Derrick Henry to Pollard instead of increasing. He wasn’t on the field as consistently in passing situations, while his rates in other situations didn’t rise.
