Hubbard’s yards after contact per attempt in 2024 increased to 3.5 yards after contact per carry compared to 2.9 from the year before. His 2024 mark ranked third-best among running backs with at least 170 rushing attempts.

The Panthers added free agent Rico Dowdle and drafted Trevor Etienne. They will likely take some third-down work from Hubbard, even though none of the three were primarily third-down backs last season. They could also slightly cut into his workload on early downs.

Head coach Dave Canales is generally used to one running back taking most of the early down work, from Marshawn Lynch and Chris Carson with the Seahawks to Rachaad White in 2023 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This reinforces the idea that Hubbard should stay above a 50% snaps rate and receive a clear majority of the carries.
