With Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry sitting out of the Cleveland Browns‘ preseason opener last Thursday, it's no surprise that fourth-year wideout Rashard Higgins came through with a strong performance. We highlighted the potential of the talented young Browns' receiving corps this past offseason, and it appears Higgins has picked up right where he left off.
The 24-year-old left his mark on Thursday's opener by catching five-of-six targets for 98 yards and a touchdown, earning a 77.8 receiving grade. Higgins capped off an excellent opening drive for the Browns by hauling in a 24-yard touchdown strike in traffic from Baker Mayfield. The connection between Mayfield and Higgins on the opening drive is a direct result of chemistry built between the two last season. When Mayfield threw his way in 2018, Higgins averaged a healthy 2.01 yards per route run and generated a 126.9 passer rating when targeted.
