Final Score

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17, Dallas Cowboys 15

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Spencer Schnell broke multiple tackles on an incredible 19-yard run, and Bruce Anderson showed great burst and forced some missed tackles in the second half.

Tampa Bay's offensive line struggled in pass protection all night. Ryan Griffin and Vincent Testaverde both faced a ton of pressure and struggled as a result. Testaverde had multiple poor throws, including an interception on an underthrown seam route.

Edge defender Shaquil Barrett showed out in limited playing time, coming up with a sack-fumble in the first quarter that set up an early Buccanneers touchdown.

Tampa Bay's scheme in the front seven led to multiple unblocked pressures on the night. They ran stunts all night long, freeing up linebackers to take clean hits on Dallas' quarterbacks.

Rookie Takeaways

Undrafted Buffalo receiver Anthony Johnson made a nice grab on one of his two targets in the game, picking up 16 yards and a first down in the process. Rookie cornerback Jamel Dean was nothing special in coverage in his final bout of the preseason. He allowed multiple receptions and a first down in coverage.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys' defensive line was unstoppable tonight, particularly Daniel Wise and Ricky Walker, who were all over the backfield making plays. The pressure forced by the defensive line resulted in two batted passes turned interceptions. Also, Donovan Wilson made a great play undercutting a seam route for an interception.

The Cowboys' linebacking corps missed too many tackles that prolonged some of Tampa Bay's drives.

Jalen Guyton made one of the best plays of the preseason, turning what would've been a modest first down catch into a long 69-yard touchdown by breaking multiple tackles and showing great burst on his way to the end zone.

Dallas played poorly all along the offensive line in this one. They gave up four sacks as a unit and allowed significant pressure all night long. They were also poor in the run game. Dallas rushed the ball 19 times for a total of 40 yards, 10 of which came on a scramble by quarterback Taryn Christion.

Rookie Takeaways

As mentioned above, rookies Daniel Wise and Donovan Wilson both stood out in this one. Wilson could really do wrong this preseason, earning high marks in all four games with Dallas.
