- The Green Bay Packers announced Friday that RB Ty Montgomery has been placed on injured reserve. Montgomery has rib and wrist injuries, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that he will undergo surgery to repair his wrist.
- Montgomery converted from wide receiver to running back during the 2016 season due to numerous injuries in the Packers backfield. He finished the year as PFF's 12th-ranked running back with an 81.2 overall grade. This year his 79.5 grade ranks 15th.
- Montgomery led all running backs with 100 or more touches in 2016 with 5.14 yards after contact per attempt, forcing 24 missed tackles in 106 total touches. In 2017 he ranks 46th with 2.17 yards after contact per attempt.
- Green Bay will likely have to rely on rookies Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in the running game for the rest of the year. Jones has been effective in 196 snaps this season, ranking seventh at running back with an 83.8 overall grade.
