His 2023 season was plagued with injuries, but by Week 16, he started looking like his old self. He received a 91.0 rushing grade over the last three weeks of the regular season as well as the first two weeks of the playoffs. His 92.0 rushing grade over the last three seasons is second-best among all running backs with at least 150 carries because he’s been very good at nearly every situation over a large sample. The only situation he isn’t in at least the 80th percentile is when he changes his point of attack, and he does that less than most running backs, so he likely only does it when he has to.

While age and injury concerns are Jones' big negatives, almost everything else is a positive. Jones has significant experience in all situations, but he’s always been sharing the backfield with someone else, most notably Jamaal Williams earlier in his career and A.J. Dillon later. The competition isn’t as strong with the Minnesota Vikings. Ty Chandler was the Vikings' highest-graded running back last season, and he is expected to be the primary backup. He’s mostly a handcuff and can give Jones a rest at times, but he’s unlikely to earn playing time over Jones. His playing time will likely be based on how much the Vikings think he can handle.

A few things can go wrong for Jones around his age, recent injuries, and if he’s not involved as much in the passing game. If he’s able to stay healthy, not regress, and earn more targets than recent Vikings running backs, another top-10 season is well within reach.
