- The Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Matt Vensel says that Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray will handle short yardage situations for the Vikings in 2017. Murray signed with the Vikings this offseason after three years with the Raiders.
- In short-yardage situations Murray has shown an above average ability to get extra yards and in 2016 he ranked 12th in the NFL in percentage of short-yardage carries that generated yards after contact at 74.5%. (Short Yardage Situations = three yards or less from first down or touchdown)
- Last year when the Raiders gave Murray the ball in short-yardage running situations, the offense had a success rate of 65% which ranked 15th among running backs with at least 15 short-yardage carries.
