- With David Johnson out through a wrist injury, Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has announced that Kerwynn Williams will start at running back this week, and will be supported by both Andre Ellington and the recently re-signed Chris Johnson, reports Arizona Sports Station radio co-host Chris Jurecki via Twitter.
- Williams, a seventh-round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2013, has seen limited action thus far in his career, with his highest amount of snaps coming in in 2014, his first with Arizona, where he took part in 108 snaps. During which time he recorded a PFF overall grade of 82.7 in a 100-yard rushing performance against the Kansas City Chiefs.
- In the limited action he has seen, Williams has demonstrated some big play ability, and his breakaway percentage (highlighting which runners earn the highest (and lowest) percentage of their yardage on big plays (any runs of 15 yards or more), of 66.9 on the back of four runs of 15 plus yards last season, ranked fourth in the league when taking into account all running backs regardless of attempts.
