- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have started the flurry of activity that is expected as all 32 NFL teams have to dwindle their rosters down to 53 by Saturday afternoon. Tampa has released DE George Johnson and waived TE Tevin Westbrook, DL Mehdi Abdesmad, WR Shaq Hill and G/C Josh Allen.
- Johnson logged 115 snaps for the Bucs this preseason, all across their final three contests. He had some mixed success this preseason, accumulating six total QB pressures on 69 total pass-rushes for a pass-rush productivity mark of 6.5 – just 60th among 4-3 defensive ends who played at least 25 snaps as a pass-rusher. His six pressures were tops on the team this preseason however.
- He didn't make a splash in the run game either, registering just a lone run stop on 37 snaps against the run.
- Westbrook played sparingly throughout the preseason, notching 35 total snaps, Abdesmad logged all 40 of his snaps in the preseason finale against the Redskins, but missed two tackles against the run on just 15 run defense snaps.
- Hill saw the field for just 14 snaps this preseason, nine of which came on offense as he failed to impress. Allen played extensively this preseason, both at center in Week 1 and at right guard in Weeks 3 and 4. At guard, Allen allowed five total QB pressures on 68 pass block snaps.
