  • Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area has reported on Twitter that the San Francisco 49ers plan to release wide receiver Bruce Ellington
  • A fourth-round pick in 2014, Ellington missed the whole of the 2016 season with a hamstring injury. Ellington was primarily utilized by the 49ers as a return man, averaging 25.6 yards per kick return in both 2014 and 2015.
  • In the limited action he has seen as a wide receiver, Ellington has posted respectable PFF wide receiver ratings of 110.6 in 2014 and 92.7 in 2015.
