NFL Week 7 Game Recap: Jacksonville Jaguars 31, New Orleans Saints 24

It was a closer game than many would have expected — especially after watching the first half — but the Jacksonville Jaguars held on late to secure a 31-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football.

The Jags now sit at 5-2, their best start since 2007. The Saints fall to 3-4 and have a lot of work to do to get the offense on the right track.

Offensive spotlight: Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was questionable with a knee injury coming into this game, but he ended up leading the team in rushing yards with 59 from eight carries. Lawrence finished 20-of-29 for 204 yards and one touchdown, with one big-time throw and zero turnover-worthy plays. 

Derek Carr and the Saints offense looked downright broken through the first three quarters. Carr completed just four of the 14 passes he threw more than five yards down the field and threw an ugly pick-six on a pass that was late and over the middle. Carr finished 33-of-55 for 301 yards, one touchdown and the interception, with three big-time throws and two turnover-worthy plays. 

Defensive spotlight: Foyesade Oluokun was everywhere for the Jags defense, recording 15 solo tackles and nine defensive stops. He was targeted frequently over the middle of the field, with Carr taking the dink-and-dunk approach for most of the game, but Oluokun snagged the pick-six and forced another incompletion on the night.

Rookie spotlight: Saints' first-round rookie Bryan Bresee recorded two hurries and another pass-rush win across 21 pass-rush snaps. He added a tackle assist and wasn't downgraded once all game on first review.
