The San Francisco 49ers clinched a playoff spot on Monday Night Football, winning 48-27 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Game Summary
According to the PFF noise-canceled score metric, the 49ers were indeed the far better team, as their offense moved the ball at will against the Colts' defense all night. The final score was slightly inflated by the fumble on the kickoff return and the pick-six to seal the game, but it was a dominant win either way.
Passing Summary
The 49ers absolutely dominated through the air, with a late interception on a sailed throw being the only negative on an otherwise almost perfect night. Philip Rivers and the Colts also decently moved the ball through the air, but the game-sealing pick-six tanked their efficiency numbers.
Receiving Summary
Philip Rivers takes what the coverage gives him, so it’s not a surprise to see that he spread the ball around to his skill position players, with Alec Pierce being the most productive of the bunch.
As so often is the case, George Kittle dominated in the receiving game, earning the most targets, targeted air yards and receiving yards of all players. The 49ers will want to have him healthy for the playoffs.
