NFL Week 15: Fantasy IDP utilization report

Jacksonville Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins (2) runs into the end zone with teammates linebacker Josh Allen (41) and linebacker Devin Lloyd (33) after Jenkins intercepted a pass intended for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Noah Brown (85) and run in for a game winning touchdown in overtime. The Jacksonville Jaguars hosted the Dallas Cowboys at TIAA Bank Field Sunday, December 18, 2022. The Jaguars trailed 21 to 7 at the half but came back to win 40 to 34 in overtime. • Rookie takeover in Atlanta: The Falcons moved their second-round rookie, Troy Andersen, into a big role to close out the season, creating a key waiver add in the fantasy playoffs.
  • Rookie roller-coaster in Jacksonville: The Jaguars rookie linebackers are battling for a starting role and Devin Lloyd has come out on top…for now.
  • Another rookie puts on a clinic in primetime: Kayvon Thibodeaux had a massive fantasy performance and provided a helping hand for IDP managers who trusted in him.

WEEK 15 TAKEAWAYS

Make sure to check out last week’s waiver targets. Some of the key players stood out as potential adds after Week 15 for leagues of all sizes:

Waiver Wire
  • LB – Troy Andersen, ATL – Andersen finally took over the team’s secondary linebacker role from Mykal Walker and is likely to close out the year in that spot, making him a decent option in medium-to-deep IDP leagues.
  • LB – Joe Thomas, CHI – Jack Sanborn suffered an ankle injury, which could cause him to miss some time. This will open up a spot for Thomas to get a near-every-down role should Sanborn miss more time.
  • LB – Anthony Barr/Damone Clark, DAL – Leighton Vander Esch suffered a neck injury that is likely to cause him to miss time. Barr would see an increase in snaps, as would Clark. Both are deeper league options.
  • LB – Pete Werner, NO – Werner returned to the lineup after a four-game absence and took back over his secondary linebacker spot.
  • LB – Robert Spillane, PIT – With Myles Jack out of the lineup, Spillane became the only Steelers linebacker to play 100% of the team's defensive snaps for the second time this season. Spillane should have value for as long as Jack is out.
  • LB – Tanner Muse, SEA – Jordyn Brooks is dealing with a neck injury that could cause him to miss time. Cody Barton is the obvious upgrade but Muse could have some value in deeper leagues where Barton is already rostered.
  • EDGE – Shaq Lawson, BUF – Lawson has earned a starting spot on the edge for the Bills and has landed a sack in two straight games. He can have some depth value in deeper leagues.
  • EDGE – Cameron Sample/Joseph Ossai, CIN – With the Bengals top two edge rushers expected to miss time, that opens the door for two 2021 draft picks to play volume-heavy roles while the starters are out.
  • EDGE – Alex Wright, CLV – Jadeveon Clowney is in concussion protocol and at risk of missing Week 16. Wright would see a significant uptick in snaps if that ends up being the case.
  • DI – DeShawn Williams, DEN – With Dre’Mont Jones ruled out for the year, Williams picked up the slack in snaps and sacks. He could have some value in DT-required leagues to close out the season.
  • DI – Christian Barmore, NE – Barmore returned after a lengthy absence on injured reserve and landed a half-sack while leading New England's interior defensive linemen in snaps.
  • S – C.J. Moore, DET – DeShon Elliott is hurt and could miss more time. Moore would be his replacement for those in desperate need of a safety option.
  • S – Verone McKinley III, MIA – McKinley filled in for the injured Eric Rowe and should be considered as another deep league replacement at safety.
  • S – Will Parks, NYJ – Will Parks stepped in for the injured Lamarcus Joyner and led the team in tackles (nine) this week.
  • S – K’Von Wallace, PHI – Wallace is the next man up for the Eagles at the safety position and could be viable in medium-to-deep IDP leagues.
