New York Giants trade WR Kadarius Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs

  • The Chiefs traded a third-round pick and a sixth-round pick to acquire Toney, who has two years and a fifth-year option remaining on his contract.
  • The Giants, under then-GM David Gettleman, selected Toney with the 20th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
  • He flashed star potential in an early-season game against Dallas, recording 10 catches for 189 yards. However, injuries have been a major issue, as he’s played in just 12 out of a possible 24 games.
  • He still does not have a touchdown in his young career and barely saw the field with new head coach Brian Daboll.
  • In the limited action he did see last year, Toney was second in missed tackles forced per reception and 10th in yards after catch per reception.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase out 4-6 weeks due to hip injury

  • Chase suffered the injury two weeks ago against New Orleans and aggravated it last week against the Falcons. He was still able to finish the game.
  • Chase has 47 catches for 605 yards and six touchdowns in seven games this season. His 78.9 overall grade and 80.3 receiving grade are top-10 among qualifying receivers.
  • Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd will get busier with Chase out while Mike Thomas, Trent Taylor and Stanley Morgan will likely get more opportunities.
  • The Bengals are in Cleveland this week for a Monday Night matchup against the division-rival Browns.

More news and notes around the NFL

  • New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick finally named a starting quarterback, telling reporters Mac Jones will start on Sunday against the New York Jets. Jones played just three possessions on Monday night and finished with a 35.4 PFF grade.
  • Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said the team will designate DE Chase Young to return from the PUP list next week. Young has not played since suffering a significant knee injury last season.
