• Grabbing a first-round quarterback continues to be the best path: Locking up one of the elite quarterback options is still possible in the back half of the first round.

• Building around quarterback and running back early: This draft position should allow a running back-heavy build while still allowing you to land a WR1.

Know your scoring

Before diving into the pick-by-pick strategy, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the overall league and scoring settings, especially when it comes to superflex settings.

  • As highlighted in the tables below, full PPR scoring allows for more balance between the skill position players and quarterbacks, although quarterbacks still hold an advantage at the top.
  • As scoring moves away from full PPR, quarterbacks dominate the leaderboards in scoring even more. As more advantages are given to the skill positions, expect to see a more even distribution among the league’s top scorers.
  • As league size increases, the quarterback position also becomes more valuable. There are only 32 starters on any given week, so it becomes all the more important to load up on the position early.

Draft Strategy Context:

League size: 12 teams
Scoring settings are full PPR
ADP referenced is from Sleeper

Round 1, Picks 7-9: Draft the best quarterback available

Top Target: Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Sleeper Redraft SF ADP: 7.3

  • 2022 was a bit of a down year for Herbert, as he averaged just 17.1 fantasy points per game after hitting 22.9 and 23.3 in the previous two seasons.
  • Herbert still tallied the second-most passing yards (4,749) while posting the second-best adjusted completion rate (79.0%) in the NFL.
  • The letdown came from his touchdown total of 25, tying for eighth most at the position.
  • The Chargers boast some of the best offensive weapons in the league, and there is room for plenty of positive regression in terms of Herbert’s touchdown totals, making him comfortably worth a top-10 pick in superflex drafts this year.
Possible Targets: Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence

Round 2, Picks 16-18: Draft a Top-Shelf Skill Position Player
