• In a battle between All-Pro quarterbacks, running backs lead the way: D’Andre Swift and Isiah Pacheco were the main forces sustaining drives for most of the game.

Justin Watson leads the Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers: While Rashee Rice, Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney were the Chiefs wide receivers who were drafted, Watson scored a touchdown early and dominated the wide receiver targets.

Jalen Hurts keeps scoring on the ground: Hurts scored twice on the ground, bringing his rushing touchdown total to 32 over the past three years, three more than any other player in that time.

PFF's fantasy football recap focuses on player usage and stats, breaking down all the vital information you need to achieve fantasy success in 2023.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Kansas City Chiefs

Your weekly Chiefs wide receiver update: The Chiefs returned to more of a six-man rotation at wide receiver.

  • Kansas City seemed to establish a trio of starters in Rashee Rice, Justin Watson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling a week ago, with Skyy Moore’s playing time plummeting and Mecole Hardman and Kadarius Toney rarely seeing the field.
  • Most of those trends reversed this week. Most notably, Moore’s playing time rebounded to what it was early in the season, with him mainly playing in place of Valdes-Scantling.
  • Valdes-Scantling’s playing time has steadily declined since Week 7, and this was his lowest snap share of the season.
  • Toney barely played in his last three games, tallying four touches in that span. He was back to being involved tonight, getting four touches in this game alone.
  • Hardman missed significant time in the first half with a thumb injury, but his playing time wasn’t all that different from last week.
  • This all left Watson and Rice with less playing time than in Week 9, but they still finished first and second in receiving yards among the wide receivers.
  • Rice remains the only player from this unit to seriously consider in re-draft leagues.

Julio Jones overtakes Olamide Zaccheaus as the Eagles WR3: Jones played more offensive snaps than Zaccheaus for the first time this season.

  • Jones made his debut with the Eagles in Week 7, sharing playing time with Zaccheaus in three-receiver sets.
  • Jones' playing time has increased each week, while Zaccheaus’ playing time has declined.
  • That has continued to the point where Jones is now playing over 50% of the offensive snaps.
  • He caught two passes in his first three games and doubled that with two second-half catches for 5 yards tonight.
  • Jones is unlikely to have value in standalone fantasy leagues, with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith receiving most of the targets, but the more he plays, the larger the odds are that he will make an impact at some point.

Eagles adjust to not having Dallas Goedert: The Eagles turned to a rotation of tight ends and more personnel diversity without their star tight end.

  • The Eagles started the game by rotating between Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra at tight end, with a loose tendency of Stoll playing more on run plays and Calcaterra playing more on pass plays.
  • Despite Calcaterra running more routes, Stoll was targeted more often and caught one pass for 3 yards.
  • Calcaterra left for the locker room with an ankle injury in the third quarter and didn’t return. Stoll became an every-down tight end at that point.
  • Calcaterra returned to the sideline and tried to jog, but he never returned to the game.
  • The Eagles spent most of the game in 11 personnel, as usual, but they also utilized 10 personnel for a few plays. Until that point, Philadelphia hadn’t used a four-wide receiver set since Week 13 of last season.
  • They also ran a few plays out of 21 personnel. Traditionally, 21 personnel is a halfback and fullback, but for the Eagles this season, it means two halfbacks on the field.
  • They used much less 12 personnel than usual, partially because of the tight end depth and the game script.
  • It seemed sensible to ignore the Eagles tight ends in fantasy leagues once Goedert went down with his injury, and this further confirmed that.

Miscellaneous Notes

  • Chiefs wide receiver Richie James Jr. was activated off injured reserve to the 53-man active roster, but he was among the five players ruled inactive for this game. He was a full participant in practice all week, so there is a chance he is seventh on the depth chart now and will be inactive going forward.
  • A.J. Brown was shadowed by L’Jarius Sneed, except when Brown went into the slot. On Brown's targets, Brown caught one pass, and Sneed caught one pass.
  • D’Andre Swift’s 76 rushing yards was the most for him in a game since September.

Table Notes

Snaps include plays called back due to penalties, including offensive holding or defensive pass interference. The other three stats have these plays removed.

Targets may differ from official NFL sources. The most likely discrepancy would be from a clear thrown-away pass, where the NFL may give the target to the nearest receiver, while this data will not.

Carries are only on designed plays. Quarterback scrambles won’t count for the total number of carries in the game.
