Kremenjas: NFL Week 16 fantasy football start ’em or sit ’em

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) makes a pass during the second quarter against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 in Nashville, Tenn. Gw40995

Welcome to the final week of our start and sit series. It's championship week in most fantasy football leagues, so our sit/start decisions could determine whether we take home titles this week or fall just short. Let's dive in to some borderline calls based on matchup strength, usage rates and opportunity.

QUARTERBACKS

START: Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

Perhaps no player has improved more significantly over the past month than Mayfield. Dating back to Week 13, Mayfield has totaled 79.9 fantasy points, ranking fourth among all quarterbacks over that three-game span.

He and the Browns now have a cakewalk of a matchup against the New York Jets championship weekend. The Jets rank third-to-last in both passing yards and passing touchdowns surrendered.

This is an easy start with the way Mayfield has been playing — he has top-five upside at the position this week.
