Scoring continues to be the modus operandi of the 2018 NFL and fantasy football season. Ryan Fitzpatrick leads the league in passing. Matt Breida leads the league in rushing. DeSean Jackson leads the league in receiving.
What a time to be alive.
I highlight the players above because due to our short sample size of the 2018 season, I’ll still be referring to both 2017 and 2018 statistics until Week 4. The NFL product is already an incredibly small sample size for us to work with, but four weeks into the season we can generally get a grasp on how teams will fare for the remainder of the year.
Let’s get right to business and go over which players you should feel comfortable rostering as cash game options this week on FanDuel. It’s still early in the week at the time of this writing, but here are my thoughts on the slate.
Quarterbacks
Paying up at quarterback isn’t something typically recommended in cash games, but Patrick Mahomes ($8,900) is a difficult player to fade. He currently ranks second in our projections in quarterback scoring and has a very realistic shot at eclipsing that value with the Chiefs currently implied for 31 points this week. They’re home favorites (-6.5) that play against a 49ers defense that’s allowed the third-most plays per game and have the second-worst coverage grade. Mahomes is in a great matchup here for both cash and tournament consideration, flush with plus-opportunity and efficiency.
