The 2017 college football season is approaching and it is hard to keep track of every player on every team. That’s what we at Pro Football Focus do for you. Not only do we monitor every play and every player, but we highlight the ones you should have on your radar. This series is designed to focus on such players from each team across the college landscape for both devy players and those who participate in college football fantasy leagues.
We will end the series with teams and players residing outside the Power 5 conferences. Check out the previews of the SEC, Big 10, ACC, Pac-12, and Big 12.
Instead of the usual look by team, below will be a list of players (in no particular order) along with their viability in devy and college fantasy leagues.
Good for devy and fantasy
Courtland Sutton, WR, Southern Methodist – Once split time at safety and wide receiver, the big-bodied (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) receiver is thriving as he focuses solely on the offensive side of the football. The team sees his ability in contested situation as he had red zone targets in 8 of 12 games last year. He is a top-10 devy asset and someone worth a second-round pick in college fantasy drafts.
Richie James, WR, Middle Tennessee – The top fantasy wide receiver, James should not be sold short as a devy asset. Size will be the immediate question (5-foot-9, 180 pounds) but James have averaged 106 catches and 1485 receiving yards the last two seasons. Add in another 200-plus yards rushing with double-digit touchdowns overall and he could rise like Zay Jones last year.
