The 2017 college football season is approaching and it is hard to keep track of every player on every team. That’s what we at Pro Football Focus do for you. Not only do we monitor every play and every player, but we highlight the ones you should have on your radar. This series is designed to focus on such players from each team across the college landscape for both devy players and those who participate in college football fantasy leagues.
We continue the series with the Big 12. Check out the previews of the SEC, Big 10, ACC, and Pac-12.
Big 12
Baylor Bears
Devy: Terence Williams, RB – The 2017 NFL Draft pilfered most of Baylor’s key skill position talent. That said, Williams was actually the player who led the team in rushing (1,048 yards), not Shock Linwood. He’s big (6-foot-1, 220 pounds) and uses his strength to power through tackles. He could find a niche at the next level.
Fantasy: Zach Smith, QB – While Anu Solomon arrives on campus with experience, Smith is the favorite to land the job. Anyone who knows the Baylor offense understands their willingness to throw the football (33 touchdown passes in 2016).
Iowa State Cyclones
Devy: Allen Lazard, WR – Lazard surprised some by sticking around for another season. The very big wide receiver (6-5, 223 pounds) has sure hands, as evidence by his 32 deep targets without a single drop — only Carlos Henderson and Chad Hansen had more targets without one. He should be in line for another big year and a chance to be a day two NFL draft selection.
