Fantasy Football: Boom, bust performances to consider ahead of Week 10

  • Brock Bowers is back in form: The star tight end recorded 12 catches, 127 yards and three touchdowns for 43.3 PPR points in Week 9. He dominated targets (42% share), but he does face the third-toughest rest-of-season schedule.
  • Brian Thomas Jr.’s slump continues: He logged just 8.5 PPR points in Week 9, even with Travis Hunter out. He now leads the NFL in drops (seventh) and ranked sixth among Jaguars players in target share in Week 9 (19.2%).

BOOMS

TE Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders

Brock Bowers is back.

The star tight end exploded onto the 2025 fantasy scene with the second 40-point fantasy game this season (43.3).

He logged 12 receptions (most among receivers), 127 yards (second most), three touchdowns (tied for most), seven first-down catches (second most) and three contested grabs (tied for second most).

On top of that, Bowers finished with a 41.9% adjusted target rate — 20.4 percentage points higher than any other Raiders pass catcher. However, temper expectations, because Bowers has the third-most difficult schedule for tight ends over the rest of the regular season. And in the fantasy playoffs, he has the hardest slate.

The highs will be high, but there will be some duds sprinkled in against defenses where the Raiders won’t be able to get their passing offense going.

Temperature Check: High-end TE1

WR Drake London, Atlanta Falcons

This was the Drake London we all expected to see this season: nine receptions, 118 receiving yards, three touchdowns and 38.8 PPR points (WR1).

London dominated the Patriots from start to finish in Week 9, finishing the day with five contested catches — tied for the most in a single game this season. On top of that, his usage was elite. On drives where the Falcons found the endzone, London accounted for a 66.7% adjusted target rate. Michael Penix Jr. has finally locked back onto his WR1, as we saw last season, and with a middle-of-the-pack strength of schedule through the fantasy playoffs, London could single-handedly win you matchups.

Temperature Check: Mid-tier WR1

RB Rico Dowdle, Carolina Panthers

Dowdle returned to a workhorse role in Week 9, and it was glorious.

He handled 27 touches in the Panthers' upset win over the Packers, with Chuba Hubbard seeing just five. Carolina announced that Dowdle would start, but the backfield split was still an eye-opener.

Dowdle turned the opportunity into another 25-plus PPR points. In games where he logs 15-plus touches, he is averaging 149.5 rushing yards and 100 yards after contact. And the Panthers are 4-0 in those contests.

If the workload holds, Dowdle is going to be a league-winner.

Temperature Check: High-end RB1 with this usage

BUSTS

RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions

Gibbs fell victim to the game script in Week 9. It was shaping up to be a big outing for the star running back, but it turned into 5.8 PPR points and an RB33 weekly finish.

Gibbs totaled only 12 touches against the Vikings, the fewest he has seen all season, due to the Vikings‘ early lead. Minnesota kept its foot on the gas throughout the game, phasing Gibbs out of the Lions' plans. On top of the lack of touches, quarterback Jared Goff dropped back to pass 42 times, his second most in a game this season.

But while it was a disappointing week for Gibbs, it shouldn't become a trend.

Temperature Check: Top-three RB over rest of season

WR Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars

The hope for a turnaround from Thomas continues to dwindle. Even with Travis Hunter out, Thomas failed to put up even 10 PPR points, finishing the Week 9 with just 8.5.

Thomas dropped another pass in the Jaguars' win over the Raiders, bringing his season total to a league-high seven. Unfortunately, that is not the only issue at hand. In Week 9, he finished sixth on the team in adjusted target rate (19.2%), behind Parker Washington, Dyami Brown, Travis Etienne, Tim Jones and Bhayshul Tuten

The lackluster performance, on top of a 10th-hardest remaining schedule for wide receivers, makes it hard to say Thomas can come off fantasy benches.

Temperature Check: Borderline WR3

QB Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

This week seemed like a smash spot for Love, facing a Panthers defense that, while improving, had still been allowing a ton of fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

However, Love had arguably his worst game of the season, logging a 61.5 PFF overall grade (21st) and two turnover-worthy plays. On top of that, he lost his top target, tight end Tucker Kraft, who tore his ACL and is done for the season.

The good news? Both Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks should be returning sooner rather than later.
