Josh Downs missed the start of the 2024 season due to an ankle injury. He returned to a quiet game in Week 3. His playing time never returned to the consistency of the start of the 2023 season, but his target rate increased significantly. From Weeks 4 to 11, he averaged 15.8 PPR points per game, which ranked 13th among wide receivers. Downs dealt with multiple injuries, causing him to miss Week 12 and not play as well the rest of the season.

He was targeted on 27.9% of his routes last season, which ranked second among wide receivers. This led to a reception on 19.7% of his routes, which was third best. His numbers were particularly impressive against zone defense, where his 29.6% target rate and 22.3% reception rate both rank first among wide receivers.

The Colts added Tyler Warren in the first round at tight end. Colts tight ends have caught 112 receptions over the past two seasons, which is the second fewest for all teams. Warren will have a low average depth of target, similar to Downs. This means a lot of the targets Warren gains will come at the expense of Downs.
