Darnell Mooney was a classic up-and-down third wide receiver option in fantasy leagues. He has seven games with 80 or more receiving yards, and his five touchdowns occurred during those seven games. However, he was held to three receptions for less than 40 yards in six of his games.

Mooney was largely successful with his deep receptions. He caught a pass of 20 or more yards on 4% of his routes, third-best among wide receivers. This led to 1.3 receptions of 20 or more yards per game, third-best among wide receivers.

Michael Penix Jr. had a 16.5% deep target rate and 66.7% deep target accuracy during his three starts over five games last season. If Penix remains anywhere close to those numbers, that would be huge for Mooney’s fantasy value.
