- According to a report from 104.3 The Fan in Denver, Trevor Siemian has beaten Paxton Lynch in a battle for the Denver Broncos starting quarterback job. Siemian was an undrafted free agent in 2015 while Lynch was the Broncos first round pick in 2016.
- Siemian, the starter in 2016, has out played Lynch thus far through two pre-season games. In their first pre-season game, Siemian played 20 snaps and earned an overall grade of 75.4 while Lynch also played 20 snaps and earned a grade of 60.8. In their second pre-season game Siemian earned an overall grade of 76.6 on 24 snaps while Lynch graded poorly earning a 52.6 grade on 28 snaps.
- On a production level – Siemian leads all quarterbacks in the pre-season with an adjusted completion percentage of 100.0 percent while Lynch ranks 42nd out of 79 qualifiers at 68.2 percent. Siemian has also been good under pressure ranking seventh in passer rating under pressure at 126.6 compared to Lynch who ranks 60th at 39.6.
