- After signing former Browns cornerback Joe Haden, the Pittsburgh Steelers have traded cornerback Ross Cockrell to the New York Giants for a conditional 2018 draft pick, as reported by Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
- Cockrell played 97.8 percent of snaps last season as he started every game at cornerback. His 79.1 overall grade was second highest among the Steelers’ cornerbacks behind William Gay’s 82.9.
- The 26-year-old cornerback played 633 coverage snaps last season, the most of any Steelers defender, and allowed the second-lowest passer rating when targeted with 90.0. But he was susceptible to the deep ball, allowing a 101.3 passer rating on go routes last season, the highest on the team.
