- ESPN NFL reporter Field Yates is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have claimed defensive tackle Sheldon Day off of waivers following his release from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- A fourth-round selection in the 2016 draft, Day has appeared in 22 games for the Jaguars across the last two seasons without making a start. The Jaguars' depth along the interior defensive line has kept Day from seeing significant playing time this season, as he participated in just 125 of the team's 643 defensive snaps (predominantly at defensive left tackle).
- Day has an overall grade of 78.6 for the season, an improvement from the 71.3 he recorded in his rookie season. Additionally, Day has demonstrated greater versatility and has graded well against both the run (73.7) and the pass (76.5)in his second season. Both are improvements over last year, where he posted grades of 72.4 against the run and 58.9 rushing the passer.
