  • Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate reports that New Orleans Saints cornerback Sterling Moore suffered a pectoral injury during Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots. Underhill notes that it’s currently unclear if he will be able to play and that the team is seeking additional opinions to determine the severity of the injury.
  • Moore is coming off a 2016 season where his PFF overall grade of 67.2 ranked first among all Saints cornerbacks and 64th of 109 qualifying players at the position. Last season, he was the best performer in an otherwise underwhelming Saints cornerback group, and allowed the lowest passer rating (93.2) and the fewest yards per coverage snap (1.19) among his teammates.
  • Moore has served as the team's third cornerback this season, and has played just 32 snaps so far. 17 of those snaps have come in coverage, where he has allowed two receptions from as many targets and surrendered a passer rating of 118.8 on throws into his primary coverage.
  • If Moore misses significant time with the injury, the Saints will likely continue using second-year cornerback De’Vante Harris in a prominent role, however, Harris has struggled so far this year, and after two games, has allowed 6 receptions from 7 targets, 110 yards, one touchdown, a perfect passer rating of 158.3 on throws into his primary coverage and his PFF overall grade of 34.0 ranks dead last of 106 qualifying cornerbacks.
