- According to titansonline.com, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota will play versus the Jets in Saturday’s preseason opener. The site also says it is unlikely Mariota will play many snaps. Playing any snaps is sign of good health, as Mariota has been recovering from a broken fibula he suffered at the end of the 2016 season.
- Mariota will look to build on a decent start to his career. In 2016, he earned a grade of 74.9 overall, which ranked 24th out of 34 qualifying quarterbacks.
- When Mariota got the ball out quickly in 2016 he was at his best. When in the pocket for 2.5 seconds or less Mariota ranked seventh among qualifying quarterbacks in passer rating with a rating of 103.6. When in the pocket for 2.6 seconds or more his rank dropped to 16th and his rating dropped to 85.7.
