  • Carolina Panthers rookie WR Curtis Samuel has missed all but one training camp practice due to a hamstring injury, according to Jourdan Rodrigue. The injury is causing Samuel to fall behind, and he looks likely to miss the preseason opener against the Texans Wednesday night.
  • The versatile Samuel lined up in multiple positions last season taking 425 snaps from slot and a further 220 snaps lined up in the backfield including 11 direct snaps.
  • Samuel led all college running backs last season with a receiving grade of 90.3, ranking first in receptions (74) and receiving yards (863). He was also efficient running routes, his 2.76 yards per route run ranked third among college running backs with at least 79 snaps in route.
  • It wasn’t just as a receiver that Samuel impressed — his breakaway percentage of 58.3 ranked fourth in the draft class, earning 415 of his 772 rushing yards on runs of 15 or more yards.
